THE PRESIDENTS VIEW
Elsewhere in this issue is the complete text of a Rodgers & Hammerstein
“Realtime Music Solutions” news release. This release informs the world of the
latest mechanical development and incursion into our musical world.
Please, PLEASE, read it carefully. In my opinion, this is the single most
dangerous development in the music world in recent history.
I have written a very strong letter of protest to R & H, as have many members of
our Executive Board. I would like to ask that each of you also send a letter of
protest, and encourage your friends and colleagues to do likewise.
Letters should be addressed to: Mr. Theodore S. Chapin, President and Executive
Director
The Rogers and Hammerstein Organization
1065 Avenue of the Americas, Suite 2400
New York, NY 10018
I would also ask that you watch for any intrusion of this insidious mechanical
operation into your area, and be prepared to resist it with all possible means.
This could include a publicity campaign, education of audiences, letters to
sponsors, informational picketing, etc.
